SUMMIT® Basketball Training Program

Program Mandate
"Our goal is to provide each player with a positive learning experience emphasizing sportsmanship, team concepts and skill development. All components of our programs are designed to create a fun, healthy and competitive atmosphere where players can improve their basketball skills."

SUMMIT Basketball Training Program, is exclusive to Cornwall and is in conjunction with SUMMIT Health & Fitness Club. The program was created and designed by SUMMIT owner, Jason Dennis. Jason Dennis is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with extensive experience in the fitness industry and athletic performance.

The SUMMIT Basketball Training Program is the most comprehensive and result-oriented program in the region which combines on court skill and development and sport specific dry land training. The program is designed to accommodate players (male & female) of all ages, with a variety of basketball skill levels. Regardless of the participants' development, our program is specifically tailored to assist all players and provide them with the necessary tools to excel and maximize their game.

The SUMMIT Basketball Training Program personnel consist of highly qualified instructors with years of experience at various levels of basketball. All Instructors have been chosen for their leadership skills and ability to relate and work with young people. They are excellent role models recognized for their outstanding athletic and academic achievements.

Court Side Skill & Development

Offensive & defensive skills are essential for basketball success. The SUMMIT Basketball Training Program is designed to help young players improve their offensive & defensive skills, build speed, agility, and quickness on the court . Using age and developmentally appropriate drills and progressions, players are challenged in all aspects of their game. Our instructors will assure that each player will receive individual attention and correction that is unmatched in other programs. Additionally, each player will receive instructions on all basic and advanced fundamentals of basketball such as, passing, shooting, dribbling, and positioning for offensive and defensive schemes.

Dryland Sport Performance Training

The sport specific dryland training sessions will consist of summer strength and conditioning program developed specifically for basketball. In effect, this program is an advanced program based on a personalized functional movement assessment. (Training varies depending on age group).

SUMMIT Sport Performance training encompasses the following:

  • GPP training (General Preparation Phase) to condition the athlete.
  • Education on proper exercise technique and on proper warm-up to promote performance enhancement and safety.
  • Olympic lifting to help develop explosiveness and full body coordination.
  • Core training to achieve functional strength/power development.
  • Plyometrics, agility, and sprint training to develop speed and acceleration.
  • Injury Prevention exercises to ensure proper range of motion and correction of muscle imbalances/weaknesses.
  • Development of mental toughness and work ethic.
  • Sport Specific and Exercise Rehabilitation services.

2010 Basketball Schedule
(6 Week Comprehensive Program)

  • All Court Time will be conducted at the St. Joseph's High School.
  • Register prior to June 21st, 2010 at SUMMIT Health & Fitness Club.
  • Late registration after June 21st, 2010. Add an additional $50 to the cost.
  • Limited enrolment of players in order to maintain instructor/client ratio.
  • Payment plans available (1, 2, & 3 months) method of payment
